Aluminum-framed glass frontage for retail, restaurants and lobbies.
Lux Glass installs commercial storefront glass in Etobicoke for shops, restaurants and commercial tenants: street-front units in the Bloor West Village and Kingsway Village commercial strips, tenant fit-outs along Bloor Street and Islington Avenue, and high-rise commercial space in the Humber Bay towers. We build glass frontages, entrance doors and vestibules, and we replace broken storefront panels.

Master glazier Bojan Stojic owns the business, works from Oakville and measures and oversees every job himself. This is the Etobicoke page of our commercial storefront glass service.
Etobicoke covers the west end of Toronto from the Humber River out to the Mississauga border, and its commercial glass work falls into three settings. In Bloor West Village and Kingsway Village, the shops face the street and the frontage does the job of a sign. Along Bloor Street and Islington Avenue, tenant fit-outs bring new entrances, doors and interior glass. South of the Gardiner, Humber Bay is a cluster of lakefront condo towers that takes in high-rise commercial space as well as homes. Each setting changes who approves the work, how we get the glass in, and when we are allowed to install it.
On a village strip the entrance takes the most wear. A glass entrance door opens and closes all day, so the closer, the pivots or hinges, the lock and the pulls matter as much as the glass. We supply swing and pivot doors with commercial hardware, fitted to the existing frame or built into a new frontage. Where the entry has the depth for it, a vestibule adds a second set of doors that keeps winter air off the sales floor and the cash desk, and gives customers somewhere to stop before they step inside.
Most frontages we see are tempered safety glass to CAN/CGSB-12.1. Tempered glass is strong and breaks into small blunt pieces, which protects people, but a broken tempered pane empties the opening. Laminated glass is two or more layers bonded to an interlayer. When it is hit it cracks and stays in place, so the shop is not left open to the street overnight. For display windows, laminated is often the better choice. For doors and sidelights, the right answer depends on the hardware and the frame. We set out both options in the quote, each with its own price.
In a tower or any managed building, the property manager controls the work. For Humber Bay tower units we follow the same cycle we use for condo work there: insurance certificates to management, booked freight-elevator time, and an install window the building approves, often outside business hours. Lux Glass is WSIB insured and carries $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance, and we send the certificates before we start. If the building has a contractor package, send it with your quote request so we can plan around it.

Explore →Etobicoke is a designer-led market for the glass trade. Much of our work here comes through an interior designer or a general contractor, and the storefront is one trade among many. We ask for the drawings early, then template only when the openings are final, so the glass fits the finished frame rather than a dimension on paper. On site we protect finished floors along the route to the frontage and work around the other trades. Engineer-stamped drawings are available upon request for an additional fee if the designer or the City of Toronto needs them.
On a village strip, the window is the sign. Vinyl lettering, store hours and logos go on after the glass is installed. Clear doors and tall panels also need a manifestation band or graphic at eye level so people see the glass, and that band can double as branding. We lay out panel joints and door rails with the sign area in mind, and we confirm with your sign maker which panes are laminated.
Every job follows the same five steps. First comes a site measure, where we check the opening, the frame and the existing glass. Then you receive a written, itemized quote. After approval we template each opening to its real size. The glass is then fabricated, tempered or laminated, and prepared for its hardware. Finally our own crew installs it under Bojan's supervision; there are no subcontractors at any stage. Storefront work has no standard price, so it is quoted in writing after a site measure. The main variables are the number and size of panels, the glass type, the framing, the doors and hardware, the building's requirements, and whether the work has to happen after hours.
Send photos of the frontage, rough sizes of the openings and any building or landlord requirements. Request a quote through our contact page or call 416-897-0767. Yes. Street-front shops in both villages are part of our Etobicoke work: replacement panels, new entrance doors and full frontages. We measure each opening on site before quoting.
Usually insurance certificates, a booked time for the freight elevator, and an agreed install window. Lux Glass is WSIB insured with $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance. Send us the building's contractor rules and we will plan the job around them.
Yes. Evening and weekend installs can be arranged, subject to the building's rules. The time is agreed before the glass is fabricated.
Laminated glass. When it is struck it cracks but stays in the frame, so the opening stays closed. Tempered glass is safe for people but empties the opening when it breaks. One approach is laminated for the display windows and tempered where the door hardware calls for it.
Yes, when the frame is sound. We measure the opening, confirm the glass type and thickness, and make a new panel to size. If the frame is bent or the glazing stops are damaged, we tell you at the site measure.
Yes. On Etobicoke fit-outs we take drawings from the designer, coordinate timing with the general contractor, and template only after the openings are final.
Our own crew installs it under Bojan Stojic, the master glazier who owns Lux Glass, with no subcontractors. The business has 18 years of experience, and every installation carries a 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
