Guelph FAQs
How do you accommodate uneven walls and sloping floors in older Guelph homes?
In century homes near Exhibition Park and Old University, walls are almost never square. Standard off-the-shelf shower doors cannot accommodate these variations and leave uneven, leaky gaps. We conduct 3D digital laser templating on site after your tile work is finished. Each glass panel is custom-fabricated with micro-tapered edges that match your wall and curb angles down to 1/16th of an inch, creating a clean, tight, watertight enclosure.
Do you install glass railings for exterior front porches and rear decks in Guelph?
Yes. Exterior glass railings preserve sightlines to gardens and conservation lands while providing safety and wind protection. We engineer all deck railings to Ontario Building Code Division B 9.8.8 using heavy 12 mm tempered glass or 13.52 mm laminated tempered glass, secured with surface-mounted marine-grade Duplex 2205 stainless steel spigots or heavy-duty aluminum base shoe profiles.
What glass thickness do you recommend for residential shower enclosures in Guelph?
We recommend 10 mm (3/8″) tempered glass for most residential shower enclosures as it provides excellent structural rigidity, weight balance, and smooth hinge operation. For oversized doors (over 30 inches wide or 84 inches high) or standalone glass partition panels, we recommend heavy 12 mm (1/2″) glass for enhanced stability and a substantial luxury feel.
Can you match existing bathroom hardware finishes in Guelph renovations?
Yes. We offer solid forged brass shower hardware in matte black, brushed brass, brushed bronze, brushed nickel, polished chrome, and satin brass to coordinate seamlessly with plumbing fixtures from brands like Kohler, Moen, Riobel, and Delta.
How soon can you measure and install in Guelph?
Once your tile installation and solid wood blocking are complete, we can typically schedule on-site laser templating within 48 to 72 hours. Custom glass fabrication takes 10 to 12 business days, followed by a professional single-appointment installation.
What warranty is provided on labour and hardware?
Every Lux Glass installation includes our comprehensive 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware. If any door requires minor adjustments or a seal needs servicing, our master glazier handles it directly.
