Owner and master glazier Bojan Stojic measures every kitchen himself and oversees the installation, without subcontractors. This page covers the Etobicoke side of our glass backsplash work.
A lot of Etobicoke renovation work, especially in The Kingsway, is already coordinated by an interior designer or a general contractor before we are called. The brief tends to arrive with a slab selection, a paint schedule and a clear preference for low-iron glass on every visible surface. We take that spec as the starting point: the glass colour is matched to the chosen paint, the panel layout follows the elevation, and we raise anything that will not work in glass at the site measure rather than at install.
Ordinary float glass contains iron, and the iron gives it a green cast. On a dark backsplash you barely notice it. On white, ivory, soft grey or any pastel, the paint is seen through that green, and the panel edges show a distinct green line next to a white cabinet. Low-iron glass, such as Starphire, removes most of the iron, so the colour on the back reads as the colour you chose. For a pale palette, it is the right base glass.
The Kingsway mixes Tudor revival and stone-and-brick heritage houses with larger rebuilds on the same lots. Mimico has pre-war detached stock, Long Branch has smaller bungalows and infill rebuilds, and Markland Wood is mostly mid-century family housing. In the older homes, walls are not always flat or plumb, so we template the finished wall after the countertops are installed and tell you at the measure if any section needs correcting before glass can sit cleanly against it.
Glass is the last trade in a kitchen, which means our panels travel through a house that is already finished. On designer-led jobs we plan the route from the entrance to the kitchen with the general contractor and protect floors and door frames along it before the panels come in. Where a route is tight, the run is divided into panels that can be carried safely, and the joints are placed to suit the design.

Explore →Etobicoke South runs from the Humber Bay condo towers through industrial-conversion lofts further inland. Tower suites come with building rules, elevator bookings and insurance requests, and we can supply proof of WSIB coverage and $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability insurance. In a condo kitchen with little daylight, a mirror backsplash or a light back-painted colour helps the room feel larger; mirror reflects more light but shows water spots and clutter more readily.
Every outlet and switch is mapped on the template and cut before the glass is tempered, because a tempered panel cannot be cut afterwards. The panel behind the range or cooktop is tempered safety glass, and its clearances follow the appliance and hood installation instructions. Any electrical changes need to be finished before the template, or the openings will not line up.
Kitchen glass backsplash projects start from a $1,200 minimum job. The written quote after the site measure reflects the length and height of the run, the number of panels and cutouts, low-iron glass or mirror, the colour match, and access through the house or building. Lux Glass has been in business since 2008, and every install carries a 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
If a designer or contractor is involved, include the elevation, the paint colour and the countertop selection; otherwise a photo and the wall length are enough to start. Usually a solid back-painted colour. A strong vein pattern already gives the kitchen movement, and a calm colour lets the stone lead, while a mirror reflects the stone and the room and can feel busy. Pulling a quiet tone from the veining is a reliable starting point.
Yes. Give us the paint colour from the designer's schedule and we match the back-painted glass to it. Approve the colour against a cabinet door and the countertop in the kitchen's own light, because colour behind glass looks glossier than on painted wood.
Where they look intended: at inside corners, beside windows or in line with cabinet edges. We show the joint positions before ordering, and the back-painted panels for one wall are produced together so the colour stays even across every joint.
The clearances are set by your cooktop or range and the hood manufacturer, in their installation instructions, not by the glass installer. Send the model numbers before the template and we plan the tempered panel and its cutouts around them.
Yes. We are WSIB insured and carry $5,000,000 in Commercial General Liability coverage, and we can send proof to property management before work begins.
Warm water and mild dish soap, or a glass cleaner, on a soft lint-free cloth, then dry it. Avoid abrasive powders, scouring pads and steel wool. With no grout lines, routine cleaning is a quick wipe.
