How Much Does a Frameless Shower Enclosure Cost in Toronto?
Custom frameless shower enclosures in Toronto and the GTA start from $38 per sq. ft., with single shower doors starting from $850 and complete custom enclosures starting from $1,600 in heavy 10mm or 12mm tempered safety glass. Because every bathroom is unique, pricing reflects exact dimensions, panel configurations, and solid brass hardware finishes. Every install carries a 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware. Below is how those pieces actually add up with complete transparency.
What’s a realistic starting price for a basic frameless shower?
A single frameless shower door starts from $850 installed. A simple frameless inline panel-plus-pivot-door setup for a standard alcove starts from $1,600. We’ve done dozens of these in Toronto condos and they tend to come in cleanly because the openings are predictable.
What factors influence custom shower enclosure costs?
Three reasons usually: thicker glass (going from 3/8″ to 1/2″), more panels (a 90-degree return, a notched return around a bench, or a full corner enclosure), and premium hardware (matte black, brushed gold, or low-iron Starphire glass).
Does Toronto cost more than the rest of the GTA?
Slightly, but not as much as people expect. Condo work downtown takes longer because of building access, elevator booking, and protection requirements, so we factor that in. A house in Mississauga or Oakville with easy driveway access usually prices a few hundred dollars under the equivalent downtown condo job — our frameless shower enclosures in Toronto page breaks down what Toronto installs look like.
What’s included in the install price?
For us: site measure, tempered glass cut to spec, all hardware (hinges, clamps, header bar if needed), silicone, install labour, and disposal of the old enclosure if there is one. We do not subcontract the glass cutting – it’s done locally in our shop, which keeps lead time around 7-10 business days.
What’s NOT included?
Tile repair behind a removed enclosure, plumbing changes, niche framing, waterproofing fixes, or moving a glass wall after a drain has been roughed in the wrong spot. We flag these on the consult so there are no surprises.
Does 1/2″ glass really cost that much more than 3/8″?
Yes – usually 25-35% more for the glass itself, plus heavier-duty hinges that are rated for it. On a small panel the upgrade adds little; on a large corner enclosure it is a bigger line on the quote. Whether it’s worth it depends on the size of the panels and the look you want, not on safety. Both thicknesses are tempered and code-compliant.
How do I get a real number instead of a range?
We come out, measure, look at how square the walls are, talk through hardware and glass choices, and email a fixed quote within a day or two. The consult is free across the GTA and there’s no pressure – most of our work comes from referrals so a “no” today doesn’t bother us.
