Willmott is one of Milton’s newest and fastest-growing communities, in the southwestern corner of town between the 401, James Snow Parkway, and Bronte Street South. The neighbourhood is being built in phases by multiple builders — Mattamy, Minto, Great Gulf among them — and the housing stock is almost entirely new: detached four-bedroom family homes, townhomes, and the occasional semi-detached. The streets are wide, the parks are freshly sodded, and every house has an open-concept main floor designed for modern family life. The glass work in Willmott is consistent: frameless shower enclosures for the primary ensuite, glass railings for the staircase and basement walkout, and custom mirrors throughout. Every install carries our 5-year workmanship warranty.
Lux Glass has been working in Willmott since the first phases came online. We know the floor plans, the standard rough openings, and the builder specifications. Every job is fabricated in our Oakville shop and installed by our own crew.
What we install in Willmott
Frameless shower enclosures. Willmott homes have primary ensuites with 48-to-60-inch walk-in shower openings and family bathrooms with standard tub alcoves. We install frameless pivot doors, walk-in enclosures, and inline sliding panels in 10mm or 12mm tempered glass. The newer construction in Willmott means the rough openings are typically square and plumb, which makes for efficient templating and installation. Most homeowners choose standard clear tempered with matte black hardware — the most common finish combination in Willmott’s contemporary homes. We also offer Starphire low-iron glass for anyone who wants to eliminate the green edge tint, which is a popular choice in bathrooms with white tile or light-coloured stone. For pricing context across a range of Willmott configurations, our frameless shower cost FAQ walks through the variables.
Glass stair railings. Willmott’s open-concept floor plans centre on a staircase that is visible from the front entry. The builder-standard wood railing with metal or wood pickets is functional but visually blocks the sightline through the house. We convert these to frameless glass by removing the pickets and installing 12mm tempered glass panels between the existing newel posts. The panels are cut to the exact spacing and are held in place by bottom channels and stainless clips at the posts. The homeowner keeps the existing handrail and newel posts, which keeps the cost manageable while making a dramatic visual difference. Our stair railing options FAQ covers the three configurations we install in homes this age.
Custom mirrors. Wall-to-wall bathroom vanity mirrors are the most common mirror project in Willmott. We cut mirrors to the exact width between walls with outlet notches and sconce cut-outs machined in our shop. We also install full-length mirrors in basements and mirrored closet doors. All mirrors use copper-free silvering rated for high-humidity bathroom environments.
Glass backsplashes. Willmott’s kitchens have generous runs of counter space that suit a single-piece glass backsplash. We install back-painted tempered glass in 6mm Starphire substrate, painted to any Benjamin Moore colour. The single panel eliminates grout lines and gives a seamless modern look that complements the open-concept floor plan.
Common glass projects in Willmott
Builder shower door replacement. The most common project in Willmott is replacing the original framed sliding shower door with a frameless system. The builder-grade door has a bottom track that collects soap scum and the 6mm glass feels insubstantial. We remove it and install a 10mm tempered glass pivot door with a fixed panel. The upgrade takes one day.
Stair railing glass conversion. Willmott staircases typically have 12 to 16 pickets per run. We remove them and install frameless glass panels between the newel posts. The conversion is a one-day job and the result is a staircase that feels twice as wide and lets light pass from the basement window up through the main floor.
Basement walkout glass railings. Many Willmott homes back onto the neighbourhood’s trail system and park network, with walkout basements and a patio door. We install glass railings on these walkouts using a base-shoe system with 12mm heat-soaked tempered glass. The railing does not block the view of the park from inside the basement.
Anti-fog mirror builds. Willmott homeowners renovating bathrooms increasingly want anti-fog mirrors. We fabricate a mirror with a factory-applied anti-fog film on the back, connected to a low-voltage circuit that activates when the bathroom light is turned on. The mirror stays clear during showers without any wiping.
What makes Lux Glass different in Willmott
Willmott is a newer community, and many homeowners here are first-time buyers who have never hired a glass contractor before. We make the process simple.
Every quote is a fixed written price with no hidden fees. We include removal and disposal of the old door or railing, all hardware, silicone sealing, and cleanup. What we quote is what you pay. HST (13% in Ontario) is shown as a separate line on the invoice.
We coordinate parking with the homeowner in advance. Willmott’s streets have visitor parking restrictions in some phases, and we make sure our crew’s vehicles are properly positioned so there are no parking tickets or neighbour complaints.
And because we fabricate our own glass, our lead times are shorter than the industry average. A Willmott shower door can typically go from template to installation in seven to ten days. A stair railing conversion takes about two weeks from the initial site visit.
