Lux Glass designs and installs frameless glass railings for Vaughan homes in Woodbridge, Kleinburg, and Maple — interior stair and upper-hall guards, floating staircases, rear decks, balconies, and pool surrounds. Every railing uses 12mm tempered safety glass, exterior and pool railings stand on Duplex 2205 marine-grade stainless spigots, and every guard is sized to the Ontario Building Code, Division B, Subsection 9.8.8. Owner and master glazier Bojan Stojic measures, templates, and installs each railing himself. It is the Vaughan side of our glass railing service.

Where Vaughan glass railings go
Vaughan railing work splits between the inside and the outside of the house. Inside, it is floating and open-riser staircases in Kleinburg custom homes, multi-level stair runs in Vellore Village, and interior stair railings in the Pine Valley and Islington Woods estates of Woodbridge. Outside, it is rear decks in Weston Downs, decks on Woodbridge lots that back onto the Humber River valley, balconies and pool surrounds in Kleinburg and Copper Creek where the view of the countryside and ravines is the reason for choosing glass, and deck additions on Maple townhomes.
Railing systems we install
- Frameless spigot — stainless spigots at intervals along the deck, slab, or pool edge, holding 12mm tempered panels with no posts or top rail. For pools and exteriors we use Duplex 2205 marine-grade spigots. From $220/LF.
- Aluminum post — glass panels set between aluminum posts, a practical choice for long deck perimeters and for structures that suit fixed points. From $160/LF.
- Standoff — 316 stainless standoff pins fix the glass to the face of a stair stringer or a slab edge, the usual choice for floating and open-riser staircases.
- Base channel — the glass sits in a continuous channel along the floor or stair, recessed where the finishes allow, for the cleanest line on interior guards.
Ravine lots, open views, and wind
Woodbridge properties that back onto the Humber River valley or conservation land take more wind than a sheltered inland yard, and Kleinburg balconies and pool decks are often open to the countryside for the same reason people want glass there. Wind changes the specification. On exposed runs we size the glass and the anchors to the site and use laminated glass where wind loading matters, so a damaged panel stays in place rather than leaving an open edge. Anchors go into solid framing, concrete, or steel, sized to the structure as it is rather than to a stock detail. Engineer-stamped drawings are available upon request for an additional fee.
Deck, pool, balcony, or stair: how the spec changes
A deck railing in Weston Downs or Maple is a level guard: rectangular panels on spigots or posts, anchored into the rim joist or blocking. A pool surround in Kleinburg or Copper Creek sits in splash and pool water all season, which is why Duplex 2205 marine-grade spigots are our standard there. A balcony guard is anchored into concrete or steel and carries the most exposure on the house. A stair railing is a different job: the panels are raked to the stair pitch, so each one is a trapezoid templated off the finished stringer. On a floating staircase the standoff pins have to land in solid structure, so we want to be involved before the drywall and treads go in, while blocking can still be added.
Code and safety
Every guard we install is sized against the Ontario Building Code, Division B, Subsection 9.8.8. That subsection sets the minimum guard height, the limits on openings, and the loads a guard has to resist. The required height depends on how far the walking surface sits above the ground and where the guard is, so we confirm which case applies from the measured site at the first visit, not from what the old railing was. The glass in a guard must be safety glass; ours is 12mm tempered to CAN/CGSB-12.1, with laminated glass where wind loading matters.
What a Vaughan glass railing costs
Aluminum glass railings start from $160/LF. Frameless spigot railings with 12mm tempered glass start from $220/LF. The final figure depends on the linear footage, the system, the number of corners and stair panels, the surface the railing mounts to, the exposure, and whether you want engineer-stamped drawings. Raked stair panels take more fabrication than level deck panels, so a stair usually prices differently from a deck of the same length. After the site measure we send a fixed, itemized written quote before HST, so you know the price before anything is fabricated.
How a Vaughan railing project runs
- Site measure. Bojan visits, measures the run, checks the structure the railing will anchor into, and walks you through the system options.
- Written quote. A fixed, itemized price with the glass, system, and hardware set out line by line.
- Template. Once the deck, stair, or finished floor is complete, the panels are templated on site.
- Fabricate. The glass is cut and tempered to the template and the hardware is ordered in your finish.
- Install. Bojan installs the railing himself, with no subcontractors.
Lux Glass has been in business since 2008 and brings 18 years of experience to every guard. We are WSIB insured and carry $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability, and every railing carries our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
Vaughan glass railing FAQs
How much does a glass railing cost in Vaughan?
Aluminum glass railings start from $160/LF and frameless spigot railings with 12mm tempered glass start from $220/LF. The final price depends on footage, system, corners, stair panels, mounting surface, and exposure, and is confirmed in a written quote after the site measure.
Which spigots do you use around a pool?
Duplex 2205 marine-grade stainless spigots. We use them for pools and all exterior railings because they sit in splash, pool water, and weather through every season.
Our Woodbridge lot backs onto the ravine. Does that change the railing?
It can. Ravine and valley lots see more wind than sheltered yards, so we size the glass and anchors to the exposure and use laminated glass where wind loading matters. Engineer-stamped drawings are available upon request for an additional fee.
How tall does a glass railing need to be in Vaughan?
The minimum height is set by the Ontario Building Code, Division B, Subsection 9.8.8, and it depends on how high the walking surface is above the ground and where the guard is. We confirm which requirement applies at the site measure.
Can you put glass on a floating staircase in a new Kleinburg home?
Yes, usually with 316 stainless standoff pins fixed to the stringer. The pins need solid structure behind them, so the best time to involve us is before the drywall and treads go in, when blocking can still be added.
Is aluminum post or frameless spigot better for a Maple deck?
Both use 12mm tempered glass. Spigot railings have no posts or top rail and give the most open view. Aluminum post systems start at a lower price and suit long perimeters. We can quote both so you can compare them on your own deck.
What warranty comes with the railing?
Every railing carries our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware. Bojan installs each one himself, so the person who measured your railing is the person who stands behind it.
