Lux Glass is an Oakville glass company, and we install frameless glass pool fences for homeowners across our own town: lakefront yards in Bronte and along Coronation Park, heritage lots in Old Oakville, family homes in Glen Abbey and West Oak Trails, and the estates of Joshua Creek and Iroquois Ridge. Panels are 12mm tempered glass on Duplex 2205 marine-grade spigots, and the gate closes and latches on its own. Pool fences are part of our glass railing work.

Built in our home town
Oakville is where Lux Glass is based and where owner Bojan Stojic has worked since 2008. The business was incorporated as Lux Glass Inc. in 2014. Working close to home helps on a pool fence: the site measure, the template visit and any later adjustment to the gate are short trips across town. Bojan installs every fence himself, with no subcontractors, so the person you meet at the measure is the person who hangs the gate.
Three kinds of Oakville pool yard
South of the QEW. In Bronte, the lakefront harbour village west of Third Line, and along the lake through Coronation Park, rear elevations face the water and exterior glass has to deal with that exposure. Old Oakville, the heritage core between Sixteen Mile Creek and Morrison Creek, has homes from the 1920s and 1930s, where a new enclosure needs to sit comfortably beside an older house.
The central subdivisions. Glen Abbey, the planned 1980s neighbourhood around the golf course west of Third Line, and West Oak Trails, built from the late 1990s north of Upper Middle, are the family-renovation core of the town. Decks and rear yards here are being redone on houses that are now a generation old.
North of Dundas. Joshua Creek, east of Eighth Line, has executive estates on landscaped lots and brings the largest glass briefs we see in Oakville. Iroquois Ridge, around Eighth Line and Upper Middle, has larger homes on established streets.
What the Town of Oakville requires
The key requirements of the Town of Oakville Pool Enclosure By-law 2006-071:
- A pool enclosure permit from the Town before construction, and no water in the pool until the Town has inspected and approved the enclosure.
- Minimum height of 1.20 m (4 ft), measured from the effective ground level on the outside.
- No opening that would pass a 38 mm (1.5 in) sphere, and no more than 50 mm (2 in) under the enclosure.
- Gates close on their own within 30 seconds, with a self-latching device at least 1.22 m (4 ft) above grade and a lock.
- Gates and other access points sit at least 1.52 m (5 ft) from the water’s edge; the enclosure itself at least 0.91 m (3 ft) from the water on a level surface.
- Nothing on the outside face that helps a child climb; horizontal framing goes on the pool side.

A pool fence in Oakville has to meet the Town of Oakville’s pool enclosure by-law, and a pool enclosure permit is normally required from the Town. What we do is build to the approved drawings. If you need them, engineer-stamped drawings are available on request for an additional fee. Our article on glass pool fence safety codes in Oakville and Burlington covers the questions worth bringing to the Town.
The fence itself
Every Oakville pool fence we build uses the same short list of parts. The panels are 12mm tempered safety glass made to CAN/CGSB-12.1. They stand on Duplex 2205 marine-grade stainless spigots, the grade we use for pools and exteriors because pool water puts chlorine or salt on the hardware every time someone climbs out. There is no frame around the glass. The gate is a matching glass panel on self-closing, self-latching hardware, set and adjusted at installation so it shuts and latches by itself.
On a lakefront yard in Bronte the parts stay the same. What changes is the conversation about exposure at the site measure, and whether you want engineer-stamped drawings for the run.
Five steps from first call to finished fence
- Site measure. Free, on site, with Bojan. We look at the pool surround, the gate position and what the spigots will be anchored into.
- Written quote. An itemized price in writing, never a figure guessed over the phone.
- Template. Taken once the deck or stone is finished, so the panels are cut to the yard as built.
- Fabricate. The glass is cut and tempered to the template, and the spigots and gate hardware are ordered for your run.
- Install. Spigots set, panels placed, gate hung and adjusted, site cleaned.
What sets the price
A frameless glass pool fence from Lux Glass starts at $240 per linear foot. From there the number depends on how long the run is, how many corners and changes of level it takes, where the gate goes, what the deck is made of, and how far the glass has to travel from the driveway to the pool. The final price is quoted in writing after a free on-site measure.
Oakville glass pool fence FAQs
Does the Town of Oakville require a permit for a glass pool fence?
A pool enclosure permit is normally required from the Town of Oakville, and the enclosure must meet the Town’s pool enclosure by-law. Confirm the details for your lot with the Town. We build to the approved drawings.
Can you replace our old pool fence with glass?
Yes. Frameless glass can replace an older enclosure. Because the new fence must meet the Town’s pool enclosure by-law, check the permit requirement with the Town before the old fence comes down.
Our Bronte yard faces the lake. Does that change the fence?
The parts stay the same: 12mm tempered glass on Duplex 2205 spigots. What changes is the exposure, which we look at during the site measure. If you want the run engineered, engineer-stamped drawings are available on request for an additional fee.
How long has Lux Glass been working in Oakville?
Lux Glass has 18 years of experience. Bojan Stojic has been in business since 2008, incorporated Lux Glass Inc. in 2014, and runs the company from Oakville.
Can the glass gate close by itself?
Yes. The gate hangs on self-closing, self-latching hardware. We adjust it at installation and check that it closes and latches on its own.
Do you work in Joshua Creek and Iroquois Ridge?
Yes. We work across Oakville, including the estates north of Dundas in Joshua Creek and Iroquois Ridge, as well as Glen Abbey, West Oak Trails, Old Oakville and Bronte.
What warranty do you give?
Every installation carries our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
