Lux Glass installs kitchen glass backsplashes for Hamilton homeowners in Westdale, Dundas, Ancaster, Durand and Stoney Creek: back-painted glass in a colour that suits your cabinets, low-iron glass for whites, and mirror. Hamilton is a newer part of our service area, and we want to be straight about that. We travel in from our Oakville base, and the work is the same owner-operated work we do everywhere else, measured and installed by master glazier Bojan Stojic. It follows the approach on our main glass backsplash page.

Newer to Hamilton, same way of working
Lux Glass has been in business since 2008 and was incorporated as Lux Glass Inc. in 2014. Most of our history is east of here, in Oakville, Burlington and Toronto, and we are building our Hamilton calendar by quoting carefully rather than presuming a reputation. What does not change by city: Bojan does the measure, the template and the install, there are no subcontractors, and you get a written quote before anything is ordered.
Older Hamilton walls and a flat sheet of glass
Glass is perfectly flat and walls are not. That matters in Hamilton’s older housing: the Victorian homes of Durand, the heritage village of Dundas under the escarpment brow, and the mid-century brick and post-war houses of Westdale near McMaster. Older houses here often have out-of-plumb walls, uneven floors and framing that has settled. We template the actual wall after the countertops are installed, so the glass follows the real counter line, and we tell you at the measure if a section needs to be flattened before the glass can go up.
Ancaster and Stoney Creek kitchens
Ancaster, on top of the escarpment, has larger family homes and estate pockets, and Stoney Creek mixes suburban subdivisions with lakefront properties. A larger kitchen can mean a longer backsplash run, and a long run is made from more than one panel. We place the joints where they read as part of the kitchen, at an inside corner, the side of a window or a cabinet line, and back-painted panels for one wall are made together so the colour is even from end to end.
Colour or mirror
Back-painted glass gives you a single solid colour under smooth glass, and it is the easier surface to live with: a mid-tone hides everyday marks between wipes. Mirror is the choice when a kitchen needs light, because it bounces daylight around and makes a tight room feel wider. It also reflects whatever is on the counter and shows water spots quickly, so it suits a kitchen that stays tidy.
Whites, creams and pale greys need low-iron glass
Standard clear glass has a green tint from the iron in it, and that tint sits between you and the paint. On a white or cream backsplash it shows as a faint mint cast and a green edge beside white cabinets. Low-iron glass removes most of that iron, so a pale colour looks the way it did on the sample. We recommend it whenever the colour is light or the counter is white or pale stone.
Cooktops, outlets and switches
The panel behind the range or cooktop is tempered safety glass to CAN/CGSB-12.1. Clearances around the cooking surface come from the appliance and range hood installation instructions, so we plan from your model numbers. Outlet and switch openings are located on the template and made before tempering, since tempered glass cannot be cut afterwards. Any electrical changes should be done before we template.
What a Hamilton backsplash costs
Kitchen glass backsplash work starts from a $1,200 minimum job. Beyond that, the price follows the run length and height, the number of panels and cutouts, and your choice of standard back-painted glass, low-iron glass or mirror. We are WSIB insured with $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability coverage, and every install carries a 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
Hamilton glass backsplash FAQs
Do you travel to Hamilton for the measure?
Yes. We come from Oakville for the site measure and again for the template and the install. Westdale, Dundas, Ancaster, Durand and Stoney Creek are all in our area.
Our Durand kitchen walls are not straight. Will that show behind the glass?
Small variations are handled by templating the real wall after the counters are in. A wall that bows badly can leave a visible gap behind a flat panel, so if yours needs work first, we will say so at the measure rather than after the glass is made.
Should the countertops be finished before you measure?
For the final template, yes. We can do the site measure and the written quote earlier, but the template that the glass is made from is taken once the countertops are installed, because the counter is the bottom edge of the backsplash.
Can the glass match our painted cabinets?
Yes. We match the back-painted glass to the colour you choose. Compare it against a cabinet door and the countertop in your kitchen’s light before you approve it; the same paint looks a little glossier behind glass.
Can we put the backsplash up before the new range arrives?
We need the range or cooktop model and its final position before the template, because the panel behind it and its clearances depend on them. The appliance itself does not have to be delivered if the model and location are confirmed.
What cleaning products are safe?
Mild dish soap in warm water, or a regular glass cleaner, with a soft lint-free cloth. Dry it after cleaning. Avoid scouring pads, steel wool and abrasive cleaners.
What is the smallest job you take?
Kitchen glass backsplash work starts from a $1,200 minimum job, so a short run is quoted at that minimum.
