Lux Glass installs, replaces and services commercial aluminum doors in Toronto and Etobicoke for shops, offices and ground-floor tenants on King Street West, Queen East and Yonge Street, in Liberty Village and Leslieville, and along the Bloor West Village and Kingsway Village strips in the west end. The work covers storefront and retail entrance doors with their frames, aluminum-and-glass entrance vestibules, replacement of old and worn doors, and the hardware that keeps a door working: panic bars, door closers, and service and repair. Owner and master glazier Bojan Stojic does the measure, the installation and the service calls himself. It is the entrance side of our commercial storefront glass in Toronto.

What we install and service
- Storefront and retail entrance doors, single or double, with the aluminum frame around them.
- Aluminum-and-glass vestibules, a second set of doors inside the entrance that keeps the cold on the street side.
- Replacement doors for entrances that are bent, dragging, worn at the rails or no longer lock properly.
- Panic bars (exit devices), supplied and fitted, or replaced when the old one sticks.
- Door closers, replaced or adjusted so the door shuts and latches without slamming.
- Service and repair on existing aluminum entrances: hinges and pivots, closers, locks and pulls.
Door glass is tempered safety glass made to CAN/CGSB-12.1, or laminated glass where impact matters. If the building also needs new glass above or beside the entrance, see our curtain wall glazing across the GTA.
Toronto’s commercial streets
Commercial work runs steady across the city. Storefronts and vestibules for tenant fit-outs on King Street West, Queen East and Yonge Street are a regular part of our calendar, and so are the loft spaces of Liberty Village, the dense mid-rise and high-rise pocket south of King Street West. Leslieville, on the east side, has a creative-class commercial strip with a similar profile. Downtown, the entrance may belong to an office floor or a tenant suite rather than a street-front shop, and then the door has to suit the building’s lobby and its rules as much as the tenant’s taste.
Etobicoke: Bloor West Village, Kingsway Village and Humber Bay
In the west end, the commercial strips of Bloor West Village and Kingsway Village bring storefront and vestibule work, and tenant fit-outs along Bloor Street and Islington Avenue bring office entrances. South of the Gardiner, the Humber Bay tower cluster near Park Lawn mixes high-rise condo and commercial space, and further inland Etobicoke South has industrial-conversion lofts. Etobicoke is part of the City of Toronto, so the same landlord paperwork and access planning apply there as downtown.
Working around a downtown street
An entrance door is the one part of a shop that cannot be out of service for long. In Toronto we schedule commercial door installs overnight or during off-hours where the building allows it, so neighbouring businesses and pedestrian traffic are not disrupted and the shop does not lose a day of trade. On narrow downtown streets such as Hanna Avenue or East Liberty in Liberty Village, and on Yorkville side streets, metered loading permits are part of the standard cycle. Where the entrance is upstairs, we book the freight elevator through property management and protect the floors and common areas on the route in. Lux Glass is WSIB insured and carries $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance, and the certificates go to your landlord or property manager before we start.
Repair, replace the door, or replace door and frame
Not every tired entrance needs a new door. At the free on-site measure we work through the problem in order. If the closer is leaking or the panic bar is sticking, the hardware is the fix and the door stays. If the door itself is bent, the glass is damaged or the rails are worn, a new door can go into the existing frame. If the frame is out of square or the hinge side has moved, a new door will keep failing until the frame is replaced too, and the quote will say so. You see each option with its own price in writing before you choose.
Panic bars and door closers
A panic bar, also called an exit device, lets people leave by pushing a bar rather than turning a handle or a key. Whether an entrance needs one is set by the building, its use and its approvals, so if your landlord, architect or fire inspector has specified exit hardware, we fit the door to that specification. A door closer controls how the door swings shut. When it starts to slam, drift open or stop short of the latch, it needs adjusting or replacing. New hardware we install is covered by our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
How a Toronto door project runs, and what it costs
- Free on-site measure. Bojan checks the door, the frame, the hardware and the access to the entrance.
- Written quote. Repair, door, frame, glass, hardware and any after-hours work, each on its own line.
- Template. The opening is measured as built, so the new door or frame fits the real opening.
- Fabricate. The door, frame and glass are made to size and the hardware is ordered to suit.
- Install. Fitted in the agreed window, adjusted until it closes and latches cleanly, then the site is cleaned.
There is no standard price for commercial aluminum doors. The cost depends on single or double doors, whether the frame is replaced, tempered or laminated glass, the hardware, a vestibule if you add one, and whether the work happens after hours. Each job is quoted in writing after a free on-site measure. Lux Glass has 18 years of experience, in business since 2008 and incorporated as Lux Glass Inc. in 2014.
Toronto commercial door FAQs
Can a new entrance door be installed overnight on King Street West?
Yes, subject to the building’s access rules. Toronto commercial door installs are usually scheduled overnight or during off-hours, so the shop and its neighbours are not disrupted. We confirm the window before anything is fabricated.
Do you work in Bloor West Village and Kingsway Village?
Yes. We work across Etobicoke, including the Bloor West Village and Kingsway Village strips, Bloor Street and Islington Avenue, and the Humber Bay towers.
Our panic bar sticks. Do we need a new door?
Usually not. A sticking exit device can often be serviced or replaced on its own. We check the device, the door and the frame at the free on-site measure and quote the smallest fix that solves the problem.
Our entrance door slams or will not latch. What is wrong?
Most often the door closer needs adjusting or replacing. If the hinges, pivots or frame have moved, we find it at the visit and tell you before quoting.
Can you add a vestibule to our existing storefront?
Often, yes, if the space inside the entrance allows a second set of doors. A vestibule keeps cold air off the sales floor in winter. We measure the space and quote it in writing.
Who handles the loading permit and the freight elevator?
We do. Metered loading permits on narrow downtown streets and freight-elevator bookings through property management are part of our standard cycle in Toronto.
What do you send our landlord before the work starts?
Certificates for WSIB and our $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance. Engineer-stamped drawings are available upon request for an additional fee if the landlord or the City asks for them.
How much does a commercial aluminum door cost in Toronto?
There is no standard price. Each door is quoted in writing after a free on-site measure, with the door, frame, glass, hardware and any after-hours work on separate lines.
