Layouts for the suite

Glass partition walls here usually answer an open office that shares its building with production. Manufacturing, and the office floors that sit with it, is the public character of Cambridge. That is context only. It is not a client roster, and no completed install is described. A glass wall office holds the daylight and still gives the door a frame to meet.

Four rooms come up when that kind of floor is talked through:

  • Supervisor's room. One desk, a latching door, and a sightline back to the open floor. Plain glass keeps the person from sitting in a closed box. A frosted strip at seated eye level is enough when the chair looks onto the walking path.
  • Sample table. Two chairs and a top for a part, a finish chip, or a rolled drawing. People passing can tell the chairs are occupied. A blind or switchable film covers the top when the conversation should remain in the room.
  • Records alcove. Bid sheets, payroll, or personnel files that should not lie on an open bench. The door latches. Glass over the frosted strip lets the alcove take light from the corridor.
  • Window-side borrow. The enclosed desk sits away from the exterior glazing. Glass office fronts face the brighter side of the floor, so the benches behind them are not left in shade. The leaf swings unless the walking path cannot give up that arc, in which case the leaf slides.

A glass conference room — a longer table, more chairs — is still this fixed wall, measured to a wider opening. It is not a second product, and it is not assumed.

Five checks while the drawing is still soft

Read these in the suite, not only on a PDF. Glass office walls cannot take a socket, a shelf, or a hook. Settle the points below before the drawing is frozen. Cambridge is one municipality. Galt, Preston, and Hespeler are its communities. They are not three building departments.

  1. Name the community, and leave the neighbouring cities off this sheet. Say Galt, Preston, or Hespeler so the street address is complete. All three are Cambridge. Kitchener and Waterloo have their own partition page. Do not place either city on this quote.
  2. Mark every run that must stay solid. Power, data, a shelf, and a hook need a pier or a solid end. Draw those runs before the opening is treated as final. The sketch only starts the talk. Panel sizes are recorded on site.
  3. Choose what someone in the aisle is meant to see. A face, a silhouette, or a covered top. That is clear glass, a film, or a blind, picked while the panels can still shift on the drawing.
  4. Say if a later occupant has to remove the panels whole. A short lease that requires the glass to come down intact calls for a demountable glass partition. We build those. Folding the run clear of the floor for part of a shift is a different system, a movable wall, on its own page, as a custom quote. It is not the fixed wall priced here.
  5. Say how quiet the room must be, before lines are locked. Plain glass passes light. On its own it does not hold a conversation inside. Where the talk should not carry past the door, ask for an acoustic build. This page gives no rating. Ask while the door is still undecided, because a door that meets the stop all around is part of that request.

After-hours or weekend installation is available when your space requires it — arranged in advance. Booking records the hour before the day is fixed. It is not night service on call, and it is not a complimentary add-on.

Crew timing is confirmed in writing.

Engineer-stamped drawings are available upon request for an additional fee.

The fixed wall, and the other price lines

Commercial glass partitions, on this page, are the fixed office wall. Office glass partitions of that kind start from $1,200. Frameless glass partitions belong to the same family as framed glass. Written lines wait until the opening has been taped. They move with the glass area and with every door you add.

Installed price includes glass, hardware and installation; HST extra; final price after a measurement.

A slider, a patch door, film, or a wall that travels does not take the $1,200 figure as its own floor. Ranges already on the system pages:

  • Acoustic upgrades are on request.
  • Most sliding glass office doors are $2,800–$5,500 installed per opening.
  • Telescopic glass sliding doors and movable walls are a custom quote.
  • Most smart privacy film projects are $95–$135 per sq ft installed, electrical and controller separate.
  • Most frameless hydraulic patch glass office doors are $2,000–$3,800 installed per opening.

Permits in Cambridge

The City of Cambridge is the department for the whole city. A suite in Galt, in Preston, or in Hespeler does not change that. At the visit we set this glass beside the rules that apply, and we report the result before an order goes to the shop. Where a lease says the building owner must allow interior work, collecting that permission is your step. We do not publish a dollar figure for it. A Kitchener or Waterloo address is outside this check.

From Oakville, covering Cambridge

The crew leaves from Oakville. Cambridge has no Lux Glass office and no showroom. Cambridge is already on the service list. Kitchener and Waterloo have their own partition page: Kitchener-Waterloo. Guelph's partition page is published: Guelph.

Start from the partition hub, office glass partitions. Door and wall systems that are not this fixed wall: office glass doors and movable walls, smart privacy glass, movable glass walls, telescopic glass sliding doors, and sliding glass office doors. Reach us at contact. The city guide is Cambridge. Another live partition page is Milton.

Leave your name and the number to reach you, plus Galt, Preston, or Hespeler, so the address is sorted before anyone drives. Shots of the lid overhead, the floor underfoot, and the path a crate must take can follow once the appointment is on the calendar.

Are Kitchener and Waterloo included here?

No. Those two cities are covered together on a different partition page. This page stays with Cambridge. Quote a suite in either of those cities over there.

Is a Cambridge showroom part of Lux Glass?

No. The only base is Oakville. We measure and fit inside your suite. Cambridge has neither a Lux Glass office nor a showroom.

What should a buyer expect to pay?

Installed price includes glass, hardware and installation; HST extra; final price after a measurement. Acoustic upgrades are on request. Most smart privacy film projects are $95–$135 per sq ft installed, electrical and controller separate. Most sliding glass office doors are $2,800–$5,500 installed per opening. Telescopic glass sliding doors and movable walls are a custom quote. Most frameless hydraulic patch glass office doors are $2,000–$3,800 installed per opening. Fixed partitions start from $1,200.

Which office handles a permit question?

Through the City of Cambridge, for a suite in Galt, Preston, or Hespeler alike. At the visit we place the glass against the rules that apply and report what we found before anything is ordered.

What is guaranteed after the panels are up?

A 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.

Planning a closed glass room in Cambridge?

Phone the office, or fill in the form above. The suite is measured before a price is written, and the quote comes back in separate lines.
