Custom Mirrors Etobicoke: Homes and Condos | Lux Glass

Custom Mirrors in Etobicoke

Lux Glass makes and installs custom mirrors for Etobicoke homeowners, condo owners, and the designers and contractors running their renovations — from Tudor revival rebuilds in The Kingsway to lakefront suites at Humber Bay and the bungalows and infill homes of Long Branch and Mimico. We build full-wall and double-vanity mirrors, cut vanity mirrors to size, and supply LED backlit, antique, and closet and door mirrors. Owner and master glazier Bojan Stojic templates and installs the work himself, with no subcontractors. This page covers the Etobicoke side of our custom mirror service.

Mirror walls in an ensuite bathroom by Lux Glass — custom mirrors for Etobicoke homes

Working from a designer’s drawing

Much of the glass work in The Kingsway and the deeper streets of Etobicoke South is part of a bigger renovation already run by an interior designer or a general contractor. The mirror usually arrives as a line on a drawing: one pane across a double-vanity wall, a back-painted strip beside it, or a mirror set into a tile reveal with LED light behind it. Our job is to turn that line into glass that fits the room as it was actually built. We measure once tile and millwork are finished, check every dimension against the drawing, and raise anything the site does not match before a single piece is cut.

One pane or several across a double vanity

The larger bathrooms in Kingsway and Princess-Rosethorn rebuilds often call for a mirror that runs the full length of a double vanity. One pane gives an unbroken reflection, but it has to get from the truck to the room: through the front door, around the stair, and down a finished hallway. When the route will not take a single sheet, we plan the seam on purpose. Two or more panels are butted tight, and the joint goes where it reads naturally, such as on the centre line between two sinks. That decision is made at the site measure, not when the glass arrives.

Feature mirrors for Etobicoke renovations

  • LED backlit mirrors — light set behind the glass or behind a tile reveal, giving an even glow around the mirror instead of a fixture hanging over it.
  • Antique mirror — smoked, foxed, or aged-silver finishes, made to size for a dining room, bar, or powder room wall where a clear mirror would feel too bright.
  • Full-height entry and hallway mirrors — tall single pieces with concealed mounting, so the mirror reads as part of the wall.
  • Closet and door mirrors — panels cut to fit bedroom closets and doors, edge-finished to sit cleanly in the existing millwork.

For backlit pieces, the power supply has to be in the wall before we template, so we agree its position with your electrician early.

Humber Bay and lakefront condos

Mirror work in the Humber Bay condo towers runs the same cycle as any condo job in Toronto: the management office approves the work, the freight elevator is booked, and the panel sizes are checked against the elevator and corridors before fabrication. Panels too large for the elevator are split with planned seams, so nothing arrives that cannot reach the suite. If the building asks for proof of insurance, we supply it. Lux Glass is WSIB insured and carries $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability coverage.

Older Etobicoke walls and how the mirror is fixed

Pre-war houses around Mimico, the mid-century homes of Markland Wood, and the smaller bungalows of Long Branch rarely have perfectly flat walls. A large mirror copies the surface behind it, so we check the run with a straightedge and pack or shim the low spots before mounting. The weight sits on a bottom channel or clips, and solvent-free mirror mastic holds the face. Ordinary construction adhesive is never used, because its solvents can attack the silver backing and show up later as dark edges. Openings for outlets, switches, and sconces are located from the on-site template so the glass sits flush around them.

Polished or bevelled edges

In a Kingsway Tudor revival, a bevelled edge often sits well beside period trim and stone, because the angled border catches the light the way older mirrors did. In a lakefront condo or a modern rebuild, a flat polished edge usually suits better, because it disappears against slab tile and frameless glass. Whichever you choose, every exposed edge is finished, so nothing a hand can reach is left raw from the cutting table.

Pricing and process

Custom mirrors start from $28/sqft, including full-wall mirrors. The price moves with the size of each piece, the number of panels and seams, the edge profile, cutouts, LED or antique finishes, and access, including condo elevator and booking rules. The process is the same on every Etobicoke job: a site measure, a fixed written quote, a template once the room is finished, fabrication to that template, and installation by Bojan, a master glazier with 18 years of experience. Every install carries our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.

Etobicoke custom mirror FAQs

Can you work from our designer’s drawings?

Yes. Send the drawings with your quote request. We price from them, then measure the finished room and confirm each dimension before cutting, because a built wall rarely matches a drawing exactly. Any difference goes back to you or your designer before fabrication.

Can a mirror run the full length of our double vanity in one piece?

Often, if the route into the house allows it. We check the doorway, stairs, and turns at the site measure. If one sheet cannot reach the room, we plan a tight seam where it reads naturally, usually on the centre line between the sinks.

What do you need from our Humber Bay condo management?

Usually approval for the work, a freight elevator booking, and our insurance documents. We provide proof of our WSIB coverage and our $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability policy, and we size the panels to fit the elevator.

Can a mirror be mounted over tile, or does it need drywall?

Either works if the surface is sound and flat. On tile we check for uneven edges between tiles and plan the fixing so the mirror bears evenly. On drywall we confirm the wall can carry the weight on a bottom channel or clips.

What is antique mirror, and where does it work?

Antique mirror has an aged, smoked, or foxed finish instead of a clear reflection. It works best as a feature, such as a dining room wall, a bar, or a powder room, where the softer reflection is the point. We make it to size like any other mirror.

Can you hide the mounting on a tall hallway mirror?

Yes. Full-height entry and hallway mirrors can be mounted with concealed fixing, so no clips show on the face. We confirm how the wall is built at the site measure so the fixing suits it.

How do you price a custom mirror in Etobicoke?

From $28/sqft, with the final figure set by size, panel count, edges, cutouts, finish, and access. You receive a fixed, itemized written quote after the site measure, before HST.
