Lux Glass builds frameless glass pool fences for Vaughan homes in Woodbridge, Kleinburg and Maple, where houses come with landscaped outdoor living spaces and the owners want the enclosure to keep the view. Each one is 12mm tempered safety glass on Duplex 2205 marine-grade spigots, with a glass gate on self-closing, self-latching hardware, and each one is measured and installed by owner and master glazier Bojan Stojic. For decks and stairs, see our glass railings service.

Estate yards across Vaughan
In Woodbridge, our work runs from established homes along Islington Avenue, Pine Valley Drive and Weston Downs to newer family houses in Sonoma Heights and Vellore Village. Kleinburg adds custom estates in Kleinburg Village, along the Nashville Road corridor, in Islington Avenue Estates and around Copper Creek, where poolside glass is chosen so the rolling countryside and the ravine valleys stay in view. Maple mixes heritage homes, modern estates and townhomes. A pool fence in any of them uses the same parts, but the yard around it is different every time.
Backing onto the Humber River valley
Woodbridge lots that back onto the Humber River valley or conservation lands, and Kleinburg properties above the ravines, are where a solid fence would block the most. Glass keeps the valley in view from the house and from the patio. These lots are also more exposed to wind, so at the site measure we look at the length of the run, the structure of the deck and what the spigots will be anchored into. Engineer-stamped drawings are available on request for an additional fee if you, your builder or the City want the run engineered.
Working with your landscaper and pool builder
On a new pool or a full landscape rebuild, the glass comes after the pool builder and after the stone or deck work. We still want to see the plan early. A free site measure while the layout is on paper lets us agree the gate location with your landscaper, check how the fence line meets the house and the grade, and make sure the spigots will land on a surface they can be anchored into. The template waits until the surround is finished, because the panels are cut to the yard as built. We coordinate with custom home builders and landscape contractors the same way we coordinate with stair contractors on interior railings, before the work is closed in.
City of Vaughan permit and by-law
The key requirements of the City of Vaughan Fence By-law 189-2020 (Schedule “A”, Swimming Pool Enclosure Requirements):
- A Swimming Pool Enclosure Permit before the pool is installed or the ground is excavated, with a temporary fence up before excavation starts.
- Minimum height of 1.22 m (4 ft), measured from the grade within 0.9 m outside the fence.
- Glass panels must be safety glass to CAN/CGSB-12.1, with no opening over 3.8 cm between a panel and a post (10 cm where horizontal elements are more than 1.2 m apart), on posts no more than 2.4 m apart.
- Gates are self-closing, with a lockable self-latching device on the inside near the top of the gate, or at least 1.5 m above grade if it is on the outside. They stay locked except when the pool area is in use, and the bottom of the gate sits no more than 5 cm above grade.
- No projection, rail or bracing on the outside that would help a child climb.
- The main entrance of the house cannot be in a wall that forms part of the enclosure.
- No water in the pool until the enclosure has been inspected and approved.

The enclosure must meet the City of Vaughan’s pool enclosure by-law, and a pool enclosure permit is normally required from the City. We build to the approved drawings. If the pool deck is raised and its edge needs a guard, that guard falls under the Ontario Building Code, Division B, Subsection 9.8.8, a separate rule from the pool enclosure, and we will point it out at the site measure. Our article on pool gate hardware rules in Ontario explains what to ask about the gate.
Gate placement and hardware
The gate is the part of a pool fence that gets used every day, so its position deserves as much thought as the glass. Put it where people actually walk between the house and the pool, not where it is easiest to draw. The gate itself is a glass panel that matches the fence, hung on self-closing, self-latching hardware. We set and adjust it at installation so it shuts and latches without help. Like the rest of the fence, it is covered by our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
Why owner-operated matters on an estate yard
Bojan Stojic, the owner and master glazier, does the site measure, the template and the installation himself, with no subcontractors. Lux Glass has 18 years of experience: in business since 2008 and incorporated as Lux Glass Inc. in 2014. On a large yard with a landscaper, a pool builder and a homeowner all involved, one person carrying the job from measure to final adjustment is how details such as the gate position and the spigot anchoring stay as agreed. We are WSIB insured and carry Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance.
What a Vaughan pool fence costs
Frameless glass pool fencing starts at $240 per linear foot. The total follows the length of the enclosure, the corners and level changes, the gate, the surface under the spigots and how the glass reaches the yard. The final price is quoted in writing after a free on-site measure, with each part itemized.
Vaughan glass pool fence FAQs
Does the City of Vaughan require a permit for a glass pool fence?
A pool enclosure permit is normally required from the City of Vaughan, and the enclosure has to meet the City’s pool enclosure by-law. Confirm the requirements for your lot with the City. We build to the approved drawings.
Do the same rules apply in Woodbridge, Kleinburg and Maple?
Yes. Woodbridge, Kleinburg and Maple are all communities within the City of Vaughan, so the City’s pool enclosure by-law and permit process apply in each of them.
Our landscaper is building the pool deck. Who goes first?
The deck and stone go first. We do the free site measure early to agree the gate and the fence line, then template once the surround is finished.
Can a glass fence keep our ravine view?
Yes, that is what glass is for on a valley or ravine lot. The panels are clear 12mm tempered glass with no frame, so the view from the house and the patio stays open.
What stainless do you use near a salt-water pool?
Duplex 2205 marine-grade stainless spigots, which we use for pools and exteriors because of chlorine and salt exposure.
Do we need engineer-stamped drawings?
Only if your project calls for them. Engineer-stamped drawings are available on request for an additional fee.
Who adjusts the gate if it needs it later?
We do. Every installation carries our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware, and Bojan, who installed the fence, is the person who comes back.
