How smart glass works
Pricing: most smart privacy film projects are $95–$135 per sq ft installed; electrical and controller are quoted separately. Installed price includes glass, hardware and installation; HST extra; final price after a measurement.
A thin switchable layer sits in the glass or on its surface. With power on, the glass is clear; switched off, it turns frosted and blocks sightlines. A wall switch, a remote or a building control can switch it.
Two ways to get it
- Smart glass panels. The switchable layer is laminated inside new glass, for new partitions, doors and fronts.
- Smart film retrofit. A switchable film applied to glass you already have, for existing partitions. Whether your glass suits a retrofit is checked at the site visit.
Clear vs private
The same glass room, two states: clear when the room is open, frosted when it is in use. With smart glass, one switch moves between them.
Where it is used
- Meeting and consult rooms. Clear between meetings, private during them.
- Executive offices. One switch instead of blinds.
- Homes. Bathrooms, home offices and glass walls between rooms.

Can smart glass be added to the glass partitions I already have?
Often, yes, with a switchable film applied to the existing glass. We check the glass and the power at the site visit to confirm.
Does smart glass need electricity?
Yes. It needs power to switch. An electrician brings power to the glass and the switch; we plan that together before the glass is made.
Is frosted smart glass as private as frosted glass?
It blocks sightlines the same way, but it does not block sound. For sound, combine it with acoustic laminated glass and sealed edges.
What is covered after installation?
Every smart glass installation we do has a 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
