Woodbridge basement gyms
Basement gym mirrors are part of our work in Vellore Village, and we install across Woodbridge, including Sonoma Heights, Pine Valley, Islington Woods, Weston Downs and Elder Mills. Woodbridge homes tend to have generous floor plans, and a finished basement can give a gym a long wall to work with. That wall is built from several panels butted edge to edge, with flat polished meeting edges, so the reflection runs across with only a hairline between panels. We set out every seam before cutting so none lands in the middle of your view.
Kleinburg: tall rooms and long walls
Custom homes in Kleinburg often have ceilings of 10 to 12 feet, so the question is whether the mirror runs full height. It can, in panels, but weight and access still set the limits. In 6 mm mirror a 4 by 6 foot panel runs about 75 pounds and a 5 by 8 about 125, and each one has to come through the house and down to the gym. We measure the route along with the wall and plan the layout so each panel fits. Protective floor coverings go down along the route before the glass comes in.
Maple: from townhomes to modern estates
Maple runs from heritage homes to modern estates and townhomes, and the gym room varies just as much. In a smaller room, a single run beside the rack often does more than mirroring everything. In a larger basement, a full wall suits training that moves between stations. Either way, the stair down and the doorways decide how big each panel can be.
Gym height or floor to ceiling?
Woodbridge and Kleinburg homes sometimes call for floor-to-ceiling home workout studio mirrors. In a weight room, though, the bottom edge usually sits 16 to 20 inches up: above the baseboard, the equipment and most dropped weights, yet low enough to keep your feet in view during a squat. A yoga or Pilates room goes lower, because the work happens near the floor. We settle the start height with you at the site measure, based on how the room will actually be used.
Edges, cutouts and glass choice
For a workout studio wall, exposed edges can be flat polished, pencil polished or bevelled, and any edge a hand can reach is finished smooth, because a raw cut edge can open a finger. We template the wall on site and cut precise openings for receptacles, switches and sconces. Where the basement is finished to the same standard as the rest of the house, low-iron mirror returns truer colour than standard mirror, which carries a faint green tint from its iron content. In damp rooms we specify copper-free mirror, which holds up better at the edges.
How the mirror stays on the wall
Over sound drywall, a J channel along the bottom edge carries the dead weight and solvent-free mirror mastic holds the face flat. Mirror never goes up on adhesive alone, and never on construction adhesive, whose solvents attack the silver and leave black edges after a year or two. Every panel carries a safety backing film bonded across the full back. Mirror is annealed rather than tempered, because tempering leaves a wavy reflection, so the film is what holds a cracked panel together. Before mounting, we check the wall for flatness and fur or pack it where needed.
Price and process
Gym mirrors start from $28/sqft. The written quote follows the area, panel count, cutouts, edge profile, low-iron or copper-free glass, any wall preparation and the access route. The job runs from site measure to written quote, then templating, fabrication and installation, all by master glazier Bojan Stojic, who has 18 years of experience and does not use subcontractors. Every install carries our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
Vaughan gym mirror FAQs
Do you install gym mirrors in Woodbridge, Kleinburg and Maple?
Yes. We install across Vaughan, including Vellore Village, Sonoma Heights, Pine Valley and Weston Downs in Woodbridge, Kleinburg Village, Nashville Road and Copper Creek in Kleinburg, and Maple.
Our Kleinburg ceiling is over 10 feet. Can the mirror go to the ceiling?
Yes, in panels. A tall wall is built from several 6 mm panels butted edge to edge, each sized to what can be carried through the house and into the room. We plan the layout and seam positions at the site measure.
Can the edges be bevelled instead of flat polished?
Yes. Workout studio mirrors can have flat polished, pencil polished or bevelled edges. Whatever the profile, every edge a hand can reach is finished smooth.
Can you cut around sconces and receptacles?
Yes. Receptacles, switches and sconces are marked on the wall during templating, and each panel is cut with a clean opening so it sits flush.
Is low-iron mirror worth it for a basement gym?
Only if colour matters in the room. Low-iron mirror removes the faint green tint of standard mirror, which is noticeable against white stone or designer finishes. For a plain training room, standard 6 mm mirror with safety backing does the job.
How do you protect finished floors in an estate home?
Protective floor coverings go down along the route before any glass comes in, and we plan the route from the entrance to the gym at the site measure.
What warranty comes with a Vaughan gym mirror?
Every install carries our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware. Master glazier Bojan Stojic installs the work himself, with no subcontractors.
