Lux Glass installs full-wall gym mirrors in Etobicoke homes and studios, often as part of a designer-led renovation in The Kingsway or Princess-Rosethorn, and just as often in a finished basement in Markland Wood, Mimico or Long Branch. We also work in the Humber Bay condo towers and with studio owners along Bloor Street and Islington Avenue. Each wall is 6 mm mirror with safety backing, laid out so the panels can be carried through a finished house. The background is in our guide to mirror walls for home gyms and studios.

Gym mirrors in a designer-led renovation
Much of our Etobicoke work arrives as part of a wider renovation already coordinated by an interior designer or a general contractor. A gym mirror fits into that the same way the rest of our glass does: we measure the wall in its finished state, confirm the outlet and switch positions with the trades, and install once the other work in the room is done. Where the brief calls for true colour against specified finishes, low-iron mirror avoids the faint green cast that ordinary mirror takes from the iron in the glass.
Tall rooms and long carries
Kingsway homes often have nine-foot ceilings rather than eight, and a full-height mirror in a tall room means tall panels. Panel size is still limited by weight and access: at 6 mm, a 4 by 6 foot sheet is roughly 75 pounds and a 5 by 8 sheet approaches 125. Large panels often have to be walked through finished space to reach a basement or a rear addition, so protecting the route from the front entry is part of the visit, and we plan it with the general contractor. On a deep lot, the route can matter as much as the wall.
Across Etobicoke
Housing changes quickly across the west end. Markland Wood, around Bloor and Highway 427, is mid-century stock and family-renovation work. Long Branch, along the Lake Shore corridor, mixes smaller bungalow stock with infill rebuilds. Mimico carries pre-war detached houses alongside newer condos, and Princess-Rosethorn, between Eglinton and Highway 401 around Islington, has larger lots and designer-led renovations. Older houses are where walls are least likely to be flat, so the flatness check comes first; where a bowed stud or a proud joint would show in the reflection, we fur or pack the wall.
Humber Bay and other condo towers
Condo towers at Humber Bay run the same building cycle as downtown Toronto. If the building asks for insurance certificates, we provide them: Lux Glass is WSIB insured and carries $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability. Freight-elevator time is booked ahead, and every panel is sized to fit the elevator and the suite door. A condo gym corner rarely has much clear wall, and one run next to the rack usually earns its keep better than mirroring the whole room.
The build: what every panel gets
- 6 mm mirror, stiff enough to stay flat across a long run.
- Safety backing film bonded across the full back, so a cracked panel stays in one piece on the film.
- Flat polished edges wherever a hand can reach, and flat polished meeting edges at each butted seam.
- A J channel along the bottom carrying the weight, with solvent-free mirror mastic holding the face flat; never adhesive alone.
- Copper-free mirror for basements and rooms near a bathroom, where humidity attacks ordinary mirror at the edges.
Studios along Bloor and Islington
For studio owners in Bloor West Village, Kingsway Village or the Bloor Street and Islington Avenue tenant spaces, a mirror wall follows the same build, with the height set to the classes. A weight room usually starts the mirror 16 to 20 inches off the floor; yoga and Pilates rooms go lower. We can schedule the install around classes, including evenings and weekends.
Pricing and who does the work
Gym mirrors start from $28/sqft. The quote moves with total area, panel count, cutouts, edge work, low-iron or copper-free glass, route protection and any wall preparation, and it is given in writing after the site measure. Lux Glass is owner-operated: master glazier Bojan Stojic, 18 years of experience, no subcontractors. Every install carries our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
Etobicoke gym mirror FAQs
Can the mirror run full height in a Kingsway home with nine-foot ceilings?
Yes, in panels. A tall wall is built from several 6 mm panels butted edge to edge, each sized to what can be carried through the house. The bottom edge is set to the room’s use: around 16 to 20 inches up in a weight room, lower in a yoga room.
Will you protect our finished floors on the way in?
Yes. When large panels have to be walked through finished space, protecting the route from the front entry is part of the visit. We plan the route with you or your general contractor before installation.
When should the mirror go in during a renovation?
Near the end. We measure the wall in its finished state and install after the other trades in the room are done, so the mirror is not the thing that gets scratched or knocked while work continues around it.
Is low-iron mirror worth it in a gym?
In most gyms standard mirror is fine. Low-iron mirror is worth considering where the room is designer-led and true colour matters, because ordinary mirror carries a faint green tint from the iron in the glass.
Does a Humber Bay condo need paperwork for a mirror install?
It depends on the building. Many condo buildings ask contractors for insurance certificates and a freight-elevator booking. Lux Glass is WSIB insured, carries $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability, and provides the certificates when the building asks.
What happens if a dumbbell hits the mirror?
A hard knock can crack a panel, but the safety backing film bonded across the back holds the pieces together, so they stay on the film rather than falling as loose shards. Keeping the bottom edge above most dropped weights helps too.
Can you cut the mirror around outlets and switches?
Yes. Openings for outlets and switches are templated on site and cut into the panel, so the mirror finishes flush around each one.
