Lux Glass installs full-wall gym mirrors for Burlington homeowners and studio owners: basement gyms in Headon Forest and Millcroft, older homes in Roseland and Aldershot, and fitness, yoga and dance studios along Brant Street and the Plains Road corridor. Each wall is built from 6 mm mirror panels butted edge to edge, so one reflection runs across the room with hairline seams. We work out of Oakville, next door along the QEW. The technical background is in our guide to mirror walls for home gyms and studios.

Full wall or a partial run?
The first decision is how much wall to cover. A full wall suits a room where you move around, because the reflection follows you from the rack to the bench to the open floor. A partial run makes sense when a window, a door or a TV wall breaks up the room, or when you only need to check form at one station. Either way, a long mirror is built from several panels rather than one sheet, so the real questions are how many panels, where they meet and where the run stops.
Where the seams go
Panels are butted edge to edge with a tight seam, and both meeting edges are flat polished so nothing catches a hand. From training distance the wall reads as one surface with a fine line between panels. We set out every seam position before cutting, so seams land at sensible points, such as a rack upright or the edge of an outlet cutout, rather than at eye level in the middle of the run. The ends of the run, the top edge and any return are flat polished too.
Burlington houses and what they mean for the wall
Headon Forest, from the 1980s, and Millcroft, from the 1990s, are the family-renovation belt where most of our Burlington mid-cycle work happens. Roseland and the older lake-side streets of Aldershot carry mid-century brick, and basement gyms in older Burlington houses tend to combine the least flat walls with the tightest access. There the stair turn, not the wall, sets the panel size. We also work in Tyandaga, against the escarpment, and in the condo and townhome stock along Burlington Waterfront, where a gym corner usually calls for a shorter run.
Fixing the panels to a Burlington wall
Over sound drywall, the bottom edge of the mirror sits in a J channel that carries the weight, and solvent-free mirror mastic holds the face flat. We never hang mirror on adhesive alone, and never on construction adhesive, which attacks the silver from behind and leaves black edges after a year or two. Where our flatness check finds a bowed stud or a proud joint, we fur or pack the wall first, because a stiff 6 mm panel still copies the surface it is bedded on.
Fitness, yoga and dance studios
Studios work differently from a home gym. In a lifting space the mirror usually starts 16 to 20 inches off the floor to clear equipment and dropped weights. Yoga and Pilates rooms go lower, because the eyes work near the floor. Studio owners also need insurance documents for the landlord before anyone starts: Lux Glass is WSIB insured and carries $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability. If your studio leases space on Brant Street, Lakeshore Road or the Plains Road corridor in Aldershot, we can plan the install around your class schedule.
Burlington gym mirror pricing
Gym mirrors start from $28/sqft. Square footage sets the base. From there the price moves with the number of panels, outlet cutouts, edge finish, copper-free or low-iron glass, any wall preparation and the access route. You get a written quote after the site measure rather than a number over the phone.
How a Burlington job runs
- Site measure. We measure the wall, check it for flatness, note outlets and switches, and walk the route from the door to the gym.
- Written quote. Panel sizes, thickness, edges, backing and fixing method are spelled out before anything is ordered.
- Template and layout. Seam positions and cutouts are set out on the actual wall.
- Fabrication. Panels are cut, exposed edges flat polished and safety backing applied.
- Installation. Bojan Stojic installs the J channel and the panels himself. Lux Glass is owner-operated, with 18 years of experience and no subcontractors, and every install carries our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
Burlington gym mirror FAQs
Will I see the seams between mirror panels?
Only as a hairline. Panels are butted edge to edge and both meeting edges are flat polished, so the reflection runs across the whole wall. We decide where each seam falls before cutting, so it does not land in the middle of your view.
How do you decide how big each panel is?
Mostly by weight and access. A 6 mm panel measuring 4 by 6 feet comes in at roughly 75 pounds, one at 5 by 8 feet nearer 125, and neither bends around a stair landing. In older Burlington basements the stair turn usually sets the size.
Can you put a mirror wall in a Burlington Waterfront condo or townhouse?
Yes. A gym corner in a condo or townhouse is often short on wall, so a single run beside the rack can do more than mirroring everything. If the building asks for insurance certificates or a freight-elevator booking, we provide the certificates and work to the building’s rules.
How low should the mirror go in a yoga or Pilates studio?
Lower than in a weight room. Yoga, Pilates and other floor work happen close to the ground, so the bottom edge comes down to keep the whole body in view. We set the height to the room and its classes at the site measure.
Does a basement gym need a different kind of mirror?
It helps to use copper-free mirror wherever there is moisture. A basement gym sees humidity and sweat, and copper-free mirror carries a passivation layer instead of a copper one, so the edges hold up better over time.
What if my basement wall is not flat?
That is the most common problem. A 6 mm panel copies whatever it is bedded onto, so a bowed stud or a proud joint shows as a waver in the reflection. We check the run first and fur or pack the wall where needed.
Do you use subcontractors on Burlington installs?
No. Lux Glass is owner-operated, and master glazier Bojan Stojic installs the work himself. Every install carries our 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
