Woodbridge, Kleinburg and Maple
In Woodbridge we work in the established homes along Islington Avenue, Pine Valley Drive and Weston Downs, in Islington Woods, and in the family residences of Sonoma Heights and Vellore Village, as well as around Market Lane and Old Woodbridge. Kleinburg ranges from heritage properties in Kleinburg Village to custom estates along Nashville Road, Islington Avenue Estates and Copper Creek. Maple mixes heritage homes, modern estates and townhomes. The kitchens differ, but the method does not: measure, written quote, template, fabricate, install.
White stone, white cabinets, low-iron glass
When a Vaughan kitchen is built around white or light stone, such as Carrara or Calacatta marble, ordinary clear glass over white paint adds a green cast next to that stone, most visible along the edges. Low-iron glass removes most of the iron that causes it, so a white or ivory backsplash stays white against the stone and the cabinetry. If the colour is pale, we recommend low-iron glass as the base for the back-painted panel.
Joints on long runs
When a custom kitchen has a long backsplash wall, that wall is made from more than one panel. Where the joints go is a design decision, so we make it before ordering: at an inside corner, against a window or tall cabinet, or on a line that continues a cabinet edge. Every back-painted panel on the same wall is produced in one batch, so the colour does not shift from one panel to the next.
Back-painted colour or mirror
Back-painted glass gives a deep, even colour with the gloss of glass, and it lets the countertop and the cabinetry carry the design. Mirror turns the backsplash into a light source, reflecting windows and pendant lighting back into the room, but it also reflects the counter and shows water spots and fingerprints faster. In a kitchen with a busy stone pattern, a calm colour usually works better than a reflection of that pattern.
Custom builds: plan the outlets early
On a new custom home, the best time to talk to us is before the electrician sets the boxes on the backsplash wall. Outlets and switches need cutouts in the glass, and if the panel is tempered those openings are made before tempering, because tempered glass cannot be cut afterwards. Placing the boxes with the glass layout in mind avoids a cutout landing on a joint. We then template after the countertops are installed, with the boxes in their final positions.
Behind the range
The panel behind a range or cooktop is tempered safety glass to CAN/CGSB-12.1. Clearances around the cooking surface and below the hood are set by the appliance and hood installation instructions, so we work from the model numbers your builder or kitchen supplier provides, not from an assumption.
Vaughan backsplash pricing
Kitchen glass backsplash projects start from a $1,200 minimum job. The written quote reflects the length and height of the run, the number of panels and cutouts, low-iron glass or mirror, and the colour match. Lux Glass has been in business since 2008, Bojan brings 18 years of experience, and we are WSIB insured with $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability coverage.
Vaughan glass backsplash FAQs
Do you work across all of Vaughan?
Yes. This page covers Woodbridge, Kleinburg and Maple, and we also work in Vellore Village, Concord and Thornhill.
Will low-iron glass match our white marble countertop?
It is the right glass for it. Low-iron glass lets a white or pale back-painted colour read true beside white marble, without the green edge of ordinary glass. Approve the colour against the actual slab before the order is placed.
Can you coordinate with our custom home builder?
Yes. We can review the electrical layout on the backsplash wall early, confirm the glass type and colour, and schedule the template for after the countertops are installed. Glass goes in near the end, once the surrounding trades are finished.
How are outlets and switches handled?
Each one is located on the on-site template and cut into the glass during fabrication, so cover plates line up with their openings. If an outlet is moved after the template, the glass will not match it.
What is the best way to clean the glass?
Use warm water with a little mild dish soap or a glass cleaner and a soft lint-free cloth, then dry it. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads and steel wool. There is no grout to seal or scrub.
Is there a minimum job?
Yes. Kitchen glass backsplash work starts from a $1,200 minimum job. Larger runs are priced from the site measure in a written quote.
What warranty comes with the work?
Every Lux Glass install carries a 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
