Glass Backsplash Burlington | Lux Glass

Kitchen Glass Backsplash in Burlington

Lux Glass installs kitchen glass backsplashes across Burlington, for homeowners from Aldershot and Tyandaga down to Roseland and the lakefront. The work is back-painted glass in a colour chosen around your cabinets, low-iron glass when that colour is white or very pale, and mirror when a kitchen needs to feel brighter. We come west along the QEW from our Oakville base, and the glass is templated and installed by owner Bojan Stojic himself. This is the Burlington branch of our glass backsplash installation service.

Blue glass kitchen backsplash by Lux Glass — glass backsplash installation in Burlington

Burlington kitchens, neighbourhood by neighbourhood

Headon Forest and Millcroft are 1980s and 1990s subdivisions where builder-grade finishes are being upgraded, and swapping a tired tile backsplash for glass belongs naturally in that kind of renovation. South of New Street, in Roseland and the older lake-side streets of Aldershot, mid-century brick homes have been opened up into bright rear additions, and premium tile and stone are common enough that low-iron glass deserves a look. Burlington Waterfront brings condo and townhome kitchens, while Tyandaga, up against the escarpment, has larger lots and larger homes.

How back-painted glass gets its colour

The paint goes on the back of the glass, so the colour is protected and the face you clean is plain glass. Because you see the colour through the glass, it looks glossier and a little richer than a painted wall. To pair it with your cabinets, judge it against a cabinet door, the countertop and the floor together, in your own kitchen light, not from a small chip under store lighting. Three approaches work well: match the cabinets for a built-in look, go a few shades darker for depth, or pick a colour out of the countertop’s veining.

When mirror is the better backsplash

Mirror makes sense in a kitchen that is short on daylight, such as a condo or townhome kitchen with one window at the far end. It throws light back into the room and makes a narrow layout read wider. The trade-off is upkeep and reflection: mirror shows splashes, fingerprints and water spots before a coloured panel does, and it reflects whatever sits on the counter. If your counter is usually busy, back-painted glass is the calmer choice.

Countertops first, glass last

We template the backsplash after the new countertops are installed and the range, the hood and the electrical boxes are in their final positions. The counter edge is rarely perfectly level and the wall is rarely perfectly flat, and the glass has to follow both. If you are redoing a Headon Forest or Millcroft kitchen in stages, the order is counters, then the electrician, then our template. Measuring any earlier only means measuring twice.

Long walls and where the joints go

A single panel can only be so long before it becomes impractical to fabricate, carry in and set safely, so long runs and L-shaped layouts are made from several panels. We put joints where they read as intentional: at an inside corner, beside a window, or in line with a cabinet edge, and away from the middle of a sightline wherever the layout allows. With back-painted glass, every panel on one wall should be made together so the colour is identical across the joint.

Glass behind the range

The panel behind a range or cooktop is tempered safety glass. The clearances around a gas or electric cooking surface are set by the appliance and range hood installation instructions, so we plan from your model numbers rather than from a general rule. Outlet and switch cutouts come from the same template and are made before the glass is tempered, since tempered glass cannot be cut afterwards.

Burlington pricing and who does the work

Backsplash work starts from a $1,200 minimum job. The final figure depends on run length and height, panel count, cutouts, colour, and whether you choose low-iron glass or mirror. We measure on site and give you a written quote before anything is ordered. Lux Glass is owner-operated by master glazier Bojan Stojic, who has 18 years of experience, and we are WSIB insured with $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability coverage.

Burlington glass backsplash FAQs

Can a glass backsplash go behind our gas cooktop?

Yes. The panel behind the cooking area is tempered, and the clearances come from the cooktop and hood installation instructions. Send us the model numbers before the template visit so the glass and its cutouts are planned around them.

Do you install in Burlington Waterfront condos and townhomes?

Yes. If your building asks for insurance documents before work starts, we can provide proof of WSIB coverage and our $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability policy. Tell us about elevator booking or work-hour rules when you request the quote.

How do the outlets look once the glass is on?

Each outlet and switch gets its own opening, located from the template so the cover plate sits squarely over it. The openings are made during fabrication, not cut on site.

How should we clean it?

Use warm water with mild dish soap, or an ordinary glass cleaner, and a soft lint-free cloth. Dry the surface afterwards to avoid water spots. Keep steel wool, scouring pads and abrasive cleaners away from it.

Our Millcroft kitchen still has the builder tile. Where do we start?

Start with the countertop decision, because the glass is measured from the finished counter. Send us photos of the wall as it is now and we will arrange a site measure and a written quote; the template visit happens once the new tops are installed.

Regular or low-iron glass for a white backsplash?

Low-iron. Standard clear glass carries a green tint that pushes white paint toward mint and shows as a green line along the edges. Low-iron glass removes most of the iron that causes that tint, so whites look white beside white cabinets or a light quartz counter.

What warranty comes with a Burlington backsplash?

The same as every Lux Glass install: a 5-year warranty on labour and 5-year warranty on hardware.
